Results - 2009 Canadian Age Class Short Track Championship

Twenty
Four New Brunswick Skaters from four provincial clubs attended the 2009
Short Track Nationals in Cambridge Ontario on March 27-29 , 2009.
In total New Brunswick amassed 51 Personal Best Performances and
qualified for a total of 14 medal finals for a fourth place finish
overall behind Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
A total of seven medals were achieved by the following skaters:
Keri Gibson ( Fredericton ) - Midget Female – Bronze in 666M – Fourth Overall
Andrew Evans ( Fredericton ) - Juvenile Male – Silver in 777M and Silver in 1000M – Third Overall
Jean-Claude Ouellette (Restigouche) – Midget Male Division – Silver 666M, Silver 500M, and Silver 333M – Second Place Overall
Team of Andrew Evans, Jean-Claude Ouellette, Tom Jung ( Fredericton ), and Nathan Pelletier (Restigouche) - Midget/Juvenile Relay 1500M Relay – Gold Medalists
In addition, one provincial record fell in the Junior Men’s 777M
distance. Evan Brideau ( Fredericton ) established a new mark of
1:10.36.
Other athletes representing New Brunswick at the Short Track Nationals
included: Paul Tremblay (Saint john), Sophie Tremblay (Saint John), Zoe
LeBlanc (Restigouche), Flora Hay (Fredericton), Chad Gamblin (
Fredericton), Matthew Nickerson ( Fredericton), Jeffrey Retallick
(Fredericton), Hilary Gamblin (Fredericton), Caroline Quinn (Saint
John), Catherine Tremblay (Saint John), Hannah Duguay (Saint John), Ray
Harris ( Fredericton), Caleb Doucet (Fredericton), Samia Gould
(Dieppe), and Emily Nickerson (Fredericton).
Coaches for the event were Provincial Technical Director Peter Steele (Norton), and Derrick MacLeod –ChPc (Fredericton).
